CELEBRATIONS FOR BUTCHER'S SHOP OF THE YEAR 2023

May saw the crème de la crème of the UK’s Butcher’s Industry gather in Birmingham for the Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards, an event proudly sponsored by Atlantic Service Company. 14 accolades were given out at the prestigious event, hosted by MTJ Events (Meat Trades Journal), which saw McCaskie’s Butchers and Café, based in Invercylde, near Glasgow, walk away with the honour of being named Britain’s, as well as Scotland’s, best Butcher Shop.

Dale’s Traditional Butchers from Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria took home the coveted Champion of Champions Sausage of the Year Award, an event judged in person at the show.

Other big winners included sister businesses, The Guildford Butchery and The Dorking Butchery, who between them won a regional award, the Team of the Year and also saw youngster Cameron Skea take the Apprentice of the Year crown.

Wales’ best Butchers were Edwards of Conwy, whilst other winners included Essington Farm Shop, Bates of Atherstone, Butcher Farrell’s Meat Emporium, Lishman’s of Ilkley, Northern Ireland’s Carnbrooke, The Dorset Meat Company, Durslade Farm Shop and Swans Farm Shop of Mold, who won the Sustainability Initiative for 2023.
